This time we introduce to you about Hakajishi of Same-Kagura.
Honkai Shishimai Bangaku is designated Intangible Cultural Property which is has been handed down in Akita. It was told by the person called Honkai-bo in the 17th century. In addition, it is handed down against the background of the faith to Mt. Chokai in 13 areas, and the lion dance is thought as important. It is deeply involved in the lives of local people such as the festival or the Bon festival.
Honkai Shishimai Bangaku is performed on every August 16. In addition to this, old-fashioned dance like Sarugaku and Noh are performed there. So, why don't you see the precious cultural heritage?
※Sarugaku…form of theatre popular in Japan during the 11th to 14th centuries.
Noh… the oldest theatrical art in Japan with its origin goes back to 14th century.
