This time, we introduce about Kagajishi. It is designated Intangible Cultural Property which has been handed down in Ishikawa.
Nothing is known for certain yet about the origin which came to be performed the present forms in Kanazawa. However, it is described that the Kagajishi increased rapidly in the late Edo period, and each town headed out to regional shinto shrine festivals.
Kagajishi is performed mainly in September. The Lion dance at the festival is the big moment to demonstrate skills that local people trains daily life to everyone. If you are interested in this brave dance, we recommend you go there and participate in the festival rich in local color.
