Yuko's Trip @Nara #3 [ World Heritage and City of Deer ]

Under the guidance of Yuko, Oliver enjoyed the sightseeing in Osaka a lot. Actually there is a place he always wanted to go. When Yuko asked him where it was, Oliver replied, "It is not Osaka but a place with lots of deer!"

Yuko knew immediately what he was talking about, and she quickly took Oliver to there on holiday. This time Yuko and Oliver will go out of Osaka a bit for a trip to the ancient capital Nara!

Under the guidance of Yuko, Oliver enjoyed the sightseeing in Osaka a lot. Actually there is a place he always wanted to go. When Yuko asked him where it was, Oliver replied, "It is not Osaka but a place with lots of deer!"Yuko knew immediately what he was talking about, and she quickly took Oliver to there on holiday. This time Yuko and Oliver will go out of Osaka a bit for a trip to the ancient capital Nara! Y) Look, here we are in Nara! O) It takes about an hour from Osaka! The overall atmosphere of Nara is calmer than that of Osaka. Y) Well, each city has its own relatively good side. Then let's hurry up to the place Oliver you want to go! O) The city is clean and tidy! There is completely no rubbish on the ground! Y) This also shows that people cherish and attach importance to Nara. There is still about a 20-minute walk from the destination. Are you ready? O) Of course, Yuko! Y) Oliver you are full of energy. Y) Hey, here we are! This is the Nara Park! O) Wow~ So many people! And there are a lot of foreigners like me! Y) Yep! Nara Park is one of the best sightseeing spots in Japan! It is crowded with many people every day. Since there are a lot of historical (cultural) heritages in Nara, the City itself is designated as a World Heritage Site. O) Oh~ So it is~ Y) Oliver, are you eager to see the deer as soon as possible? Y) Before going to see the deer, I'd like to take you to another place first. O) Could it be that huge building? Y) Right! That is the Todai-ji Temple. It is the largest wooden Buddha temple in Japan. O) Wow... It is such a large building and totally built of wood. Y) It is even more amazing inside. Let's go and check it out! O) Wow~Wow! Yuko, who is this person! Y) This is a Buddha statue of whom commonly known as "Nara no Daibutsu(Great Buddha in Nara)" . Being here I feel that I am protected by the Buddha and truly feel at ease. Oliver! Come on, there is something interesting only available in Todai-ji Temple! Y) Here it is! Do you know what is it? O) Well, a hole in a pillar... What is this? Y) This is a hole the same size as the nostril of that large Buddha statue. It is said that going through this hole, one will become smarter and can also pray for free from disease or disaster. Come on, Oliver, try to challenge yourself as well! O) The hole looks very small, I don't know if it will work... Ouch! Y) In this way, you will do well in the exam this time for sure! Hehehe Y) Come on, Oliver, now let's go and see the deer you keep thinking about! O) Wow-! There are really quite a lot of deer! Y) Oliver, there is deer's dung everywhere, be careful...! O) Jeez! I almost stepped on it! Y) Oliver, you can feed the deer here. O) I know it! I always wanted to do this! Y) This is the deer food "shika senbei (rice cracker for deer)" ! There are many places in the park selling this. O) It looks like real Osenbei (rice crackers) in appearance. Looks yummy. . . Y) Well, it is made from rice bran and wheat flour, so there's no problem for people to eat it. Y) Let's feed that deer. O) Hey, lovely deer, here is the shika senbei ~ Deer) Hum Hum O) Oh~Hey, have you had enough already? Y) Everyone feeds them with shika senbei, so it might be like this. O) (To deer) If you don't eat, I will have it myself! Biting Y) Ah! Oliver, although I said people can also eat this. . . O) Oh Pooh – this tastes so bad~ Y) To refresh your palate, let's eat something delicious before going back. Today's Osaka dialect "Seyanen!" This sentence in Osaka means "That's it!". It is used when echoing affirmative expressions like "Right right!". If you speak it in a low and deep tone, there will be a feeling of depression. "Seyanen!?" is with a surprising tone like "Really!?" and has the similar meaning as "Honmani!?". "Seyanen?" is with a questioning tone like "Really?" with a similar meaning to "Honmani?".
